I'm super fussy about my steak and this was a little chewy for my liking so I gave it to the kid after a couple of bites.

I missed my cucumber in this salad!

I hate ate peter rabbit

3rd weigh in & wednesday

I have no idea how, I can only assume that my being run off of my feet has helped, but I actually lost instead of gained! I was down by 2.4 lb's for the week, and pretty over the moon about it - all things considered! Also, it's hard not to be happy right at this second because I just submitted my last assignment for this school year and I am SO looking forward to nearly three months of nights and weekends where I don't have to worry about anything other than everything else!

So anyway, here's the eating.

Tuesday

Breakfast: EAS Shake = 3 Points

my mission for the summer is to get different pics of these damn shakes. I know.. I set myself lofty goals.

 Lunch: 1/2 roasted tomato caprese s/w & a cup of chili = 11 Points

Maybe I'll even find time at night now to make lunches the night before like one of those organized people!!! (Note: this is highly unlikely. my organizational skills are somewhat..lacking)

Dinner: Baked chicken w/ sauce & a little mozzarella, homemade pasta salad, broccoli, salad w/ cucumbers, goats cheese, tomato & balsamic vinigiarette = 12 Points

Hubby made it all apart from the salad. I've taught him well.

Bits & Pieces: Milk for my coffee = 2 Points

Daily Summary:
Total Points Used:  26/26 + 2 Weekly Points for a total of 28 Points
Weekly Points Used: 2/49
Weekly Points Remaining: 47

 Wednesday

 Breakfast: None

Lunch: tuna salad made w/ spring greens, tomato, onion, chili flakes, olive oil & balsamic & 3 Wasa crackers = 6 Points

Perfect tuna salad!
Snack: Wasa crackers w/ cheese = 9 Points (This was actually two different snacks throughout my day - and no pic - was in a rush!)

Dinner: Lean Cuisine Steak tips Portobello, carrots, served over a tiny baked potato = 8 Points

This is another handy go-to meal that is alright in a rush - the hubby and kid had Chipotle.

And I'm even finished with my posting earlier than usual!

there are bad weekends.. then there are mine

Just so you know, I'm screaming right now. I would like to smash my computer, but I love it too much to do that, so internal screams of frustration are where I'm at, because real screams could get the neighbors calling 911, and not screaming would mean I need to resort to violence, which would end in either me destroying something I love, or something that would get me arrested. Either option isn't appealing right now. So, I am not going to rewrite the entire freaking post I just wrote and that my computer decided to lose when my program crashed. Instead I'll do a brief summary; Up until Friday, everything was great - in fact I weighed in during the week and was down three pounds in three days and feeling super. Then Friday evening I ended up at an impromptu dinner with the in-laws and family at a Chinese restaurant, and, well, I did not choose the steamed vegetables and brown rice…  Saturday was the all day concert that I mentioned last week. Alcohol was consumed.. rather a lot of it actually… The food options were extremely limited at the concert - think food truck philly cheese steaks, burgers, hot dogs, mini pizzas.. and that's pretty much it. However, I did have a lot of cranberry juice with my vodka.. I'm pretty sure that counts for something. Other than calories. Sunday was mothers day and my family surprised me with greek food, which was very sweet of them, but after my indulgent weekend, definitely not what my so-called "diet" needed. I forgot to take pics this weekend (apparently alcohol makes you less inclined to stick to your responsibilities or obligations.. who knew) so there are a couple of gaps in the pics. As for the three pounds down… i was 5 pounds UP by Sunday morning… I think it's a pretty safe bet that weigh-in is not going to go the right direction tomorrow. No point in quitting now though when I finally see an end in sight to all the crazy in my life now .. Wednesday school ends!!!!!! I can do this. At some point I'll get it together, just as long as I keep being aware. I think.

NOTE: I'll put points values next to the food eaten, but so much are blind guesses that I have no real idea what the points I consumed were. I know that I went well over my points, so I'm going to forget the daily summaries in the interest of efficiency.

My summary is this:

Screwed Up. Over all of my points.   ;)

 Friday (The Munchkin's Field Day)

Breakfast: None

Lunch: ham & ultra thin swiss s/w on wheat w/ lettuce (NO PIC) = 4 Points

Snack: 2 wasa's, ultra thin cheese, pickles, LC wedge = 4 Points

Dinner: Chinese; chicken curry with white rice, 1/2 of a shrimp tempura, bite of an egg roll and some bites of whatever it is that the hubby got = no idea. the calculator says 10 Points, but I feel like that is way too conservative.. lets just say 20 for the hell of it.

*Actually got a 20 minute walk in.. it was sort of by accident, but I had the choice to do it or not and I took the choice. However, anger was fueling me so it made it very easy to make the choice to let off some steam, rather than commit murder.*

Call me sheltered, but I'd never been to a Chinese restaurant that served their appetizers with that little fire grilling thing on top, loved it!

Unappetizing pic, delicious meal.

 Saturday

Breakfast: None

Lunch: 1/2 turkey sub from Mr Goodcents w/ pepperjack, lettuce, capsicum, jalapeƱo = 4 Points

I saved the other half of this for the next day because i knew I'd be eating crap and drinking at the concert. In hindsight, I may have fared better if I'd eaten the whole thing, instead of drinking on only half a sub.

Dinner: Mini pizza from concert = No idea .. it was thin crust at least. I know that that is better than pan!

Alcohol: Lots. Wine, vodka, margarita's, beer… there is no way I can even guesstimate how many points it was.

*At least it was an all day event that I walked around at the whole time.. Although I don't even want to consider how much walking I'd have to actually do to burn off that many calories*

Drinks on the balcony of our hotel room before the concert..also I feel the need to give props to marriott residence inns. We stay at the same one every year for this concert and their rooms are great.. balcony is cruddy, but the rooms are massive and have a full kitchen and a little living room area and a really big double bathroom. Also very clean with nice decor!

Sunday

Breakfast: None

Lunch: Other half of Mr. Goodcents sub from Saturday = 4 Points

Snack: 3 wasa crackers, ultra thin swiss & cheddar, LC Cheese wedge & pickles = 6 Points

Dinner: Greek potatoes, zucchini, squash & carrot, with rice, 2 pieces meat from a chicken skewer, 2 pieces meat from a beef skewer, a few bites of pastitsio, 1/2 a piece of pita bread w/ tzatziki and a couple of bites of yiros meat, (gyro meat). = No clue. None whatsoever. Presumably a lot. ;)

This is a random internet picture, but very similar to what I had - the husband got a platter of a little bit of a variety things that we could all have.

Monday

Breakfast: None

Lunch: 1/2 roasted tomato caprese s/w and a cup of chili = 11 Points

Dinner: Tortilla crusted tilapia & salad w/ capsicum, red onion, lettuce, goats cheese, tomato, & balsamic viniagerette = 10 Points

Having this fish, and decent salad ingredients in my house, is my savior for rushed & tired nights.

 And that's that.

'Night buttercups!

Lunch: 1/2 roasted tomato caprese sandwich & a cup of chili = 11 Points

Dinner: s/w on whole wheat sliced bread, with a slice of ham, a slice of ultra thin swiss & spring mix lettuce, and a salad with goats cheese, tomato, cucumber, spring mix & balsamic viniagarette = 7 Points

2nd weigh-in & wednesday

Busy, busy the last two days, but stayed on points so yay! Also, Tuesday was weigh-in day and I lost 1.2 lbs! Considering that I, uh, strayed somewhat on the weekend, I was steeling myself for a gain of some sort, but I didn't so I'm super happy about that! This weekend I have to try much harder to make sure that my weekend lasts 1 day, not the four it seemed to last week! I am going to an all day concert where drinking will happen, and where you can't leave once you've entered, and the food offerings are extremely limited, so I anticipate using a bunch of points, but if I can keep the really bad stuff limited to that day, then I have a shot of getting through the weekend without completely ruining my efforts.

  Tuesday

Breakfast: None

Lunch: 1/2 Roasted tomato caprese sandwich & a cup of chili = 11 Points

Dinner: Tortilla crusted tilapia, steamed broccoli, steamed asparagus w/ garlic, bacon bits & parmesan asagio = 9 Points

Bits & Pieces: Milk for Coffee = 3 Points

Daily Summary
Points Used: 23/26

 Wednesday

Breakfast: EAS Shake = 3 Points

Lunch: NO PICTURE (I was at a business meeting where we all had lunch together and it would have been just plain weird if I started taking pictures of my food)
The food was self serve sandwiches that we could make ourselves, soup, some different salads, and cheesecake - I had 1 piece of multigrain bread, a slice of ham, a slice of cheese, tomato, lettuce, and a spring greens salad with goats cheese and a little balsamic viniagrette = 6 Points

Snack: 2 Wasa crackers, cheddar cheese, 1 LC cheese wedge, pickles = 5 Points

They now sell "ultra-thin" sliced cheddar. This made me happy.

Dinner: Husband made amazing pulled pork, and I made a salad with spring greens, cucumber, tomato, goats cheese & balsamic viniagrette = 7 Points

Bits & Pieces: Milk for my coffee = 3 Points
 2 Saltine crackers = 1 Point

Daily Summary
Points Used: 25/26
Weekly Points Used 0/49
Weekly Points Remaining: 49

And that's that for the last couple of days! I am down to exactly 1 week left until school is done for me for this school year, so wish me luck on all my finals!

Night munchkins!

i haven't quit just yet.. friday, saturday, sunday & monday

Well..hmm. Week 2, not so great. :/ I have been just crazy busy and I let my commitment weaken because of that... which is just not good enough. So this past weekend.. Friday night was studying and then a late movie session with friends.. Saturday was my brother-in-laws graduation from dental school (whole family came down from interstate etc etc) and Sunday was a friends 30th birthday... and then throw in some extra studying for finals and hail, storms and a tornado warning. So, yes, crazy hectic, BUT I'm going to have crazy hectic times like that, and I can't let everything fall apart just because there was a bit of crazy in my life for a few days. Hopefully I've learned that lesson.. at least for awhile! So my eating.. ummmm...I did try to some degree. At least I tried to some degree with the food.. however, I did not try at all with the drinking kind of celebrating that tends to go with all these occasions.. Friday night was two glasses of wine and a beer (UGH) - over the course of like 8 hours, but still, calories don't care how well I spaced out my consumption of them.. umm.. Saturday was.. well, let's just say Saturday was a write off. I literally have no idea how many champagne & blackberries I had at my sister-in-laws (she put berries in the champagne! I HAD to have it!..would have been rude not to...) but I think it was about 5..however, champagne flutes are little. you should remember that. of course the vodka & oranges I had later on when we went out are a different story... and then Sunday I had a couple glasses of white wine, and 2 cocktails. So points wise, things didn't turn out exactly wonderfully.... I went over this week and there's not much I can do about it now. Having said that, I don't feel anywhere as good today as I did on Friday - definitely going to try to limit the social/eating out/drinking activities on my weekends - like this weekend I really shouldn't have done anything Friday night, and I definitely should have chosen something different at dinner for my friends 30th.  I also should have drank my water, and not had a frappucino. Ugh. Oh well, onward and upward! wait, no..downward..well, i want my success rate to go up and the scale number to go down.

Friday

Breakfast: EAS Shake  = 3 Points

Lunch: Cup of chili w/ 2 saltines = 5 Points

Dinner: 2 glasses of wine, 2 wasa, 1 LC cheese wedge, cheddar cheese, pickles = 4 Points (food), 8 Points (wine)

Yum. cheese, crackers, pickles and wine.

Movie Snack: hummus & pita bread = 5 Points

Ok, seriously, I was pretty impressed with the fact that the movie theatre has this whole "fresh bites" section with crudites and hummus and wraps and stuff. Go american movie theatre. I like hummus far more than popcorn anyway! This picture is also very bad..phone cameras in dark movie theatres don't make for great pictures of mashed chickpeas apparently. Who knew.

Bits & Pieces: Milk for my coffee, Beer = 4 Points

 Total Points Used: 26/26 + 2 Weekly Points = Total 29 Points
Weekly Points Remaining: 39/49

Saturday

Breakfast: 2 pieces of toast, 1 with jam, 1 with vegemite = 5 Points

Snack: Doctored frappucino from starbucks = 5 Points

Lunch: 1/2 turkey, lettuce, provolone sandwich and black bean cous cous = 6 Points

Alcohol: Champagne & blackberries and vodka w/ orange juice = ?? Guesstimate of 35 Points

Bits & Pieces: A few crackers out of this bowl.. I had one piece of the flatbread cracker, one breton and maybe 4 or 5 of the little crackers. For me, that is wonderful. I do like my crackers.. I also had a couple of olives and a cheese cube and a little roasted tomato or pepper = 6 Points

 Daily Summary
Points Used: 26/26  + 31 Weekly Points = Total 57
Weekly Points Remaining: 8/49

Sunday

Other half of my turkey provolone sandwich and rest of the cous cous = 6 Points

healthy choice portobello mushroom marsala =  6 Points

Dinner: roasted duck with sweet potato, carrots and a tart or something = No idea. Like, legitimately, no flipping clue. I don't even know if something similar exists. However, we can safely assume that it was terribly bad. The tart thing cannot have been okay, the duck was too crispy to be healthy, and the sweet potato puree tasted really really sweet and creamy. Definitely bad for a diet. I'm over points completely at this stage anyway, so how many it is is sort of a non issue right now..

Bits & Pieces: 2 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails = 16 Points
I accidentally took this picture at the restaurant last night, but it's wine, so I figured it was worth uploading.

Daily Summary

Total Points Used: 26/26 + 2 Weekly + whatever the hell dinner was.. so lets say it was definitely more than the 6 weekly points I had remaining and I'm over points for the week with Monday still to go and possibly over by a pretty big amount, like 20 points or something, depending on that meal..

  Monday
Breakfast: None

Lunch: cup of chili & 1/2 roasted tomato caprese sandwich = 11 Points

Snack: 1 wasa & 1 wedge of LC cream cheese = 2 Points

Dinner:  Takeout - KFC. I told hubby not to worry about it for me because I don't really like kfc as a general rule and he thought he was being nice by getting me their grilled chicken anyway (it was sweet of him to care).. but they screwed up and sent home fried chicken instead. I attempted to take the skin off and eat the chicken, but didn't really like it, so I ate a little mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw and was done with it. = 9 Points

Bits & Pieces: Milk for my coffee = 2 Points

Daily Summary
Points Used: 23/26

And there we have it. At this point, all I can do is shake myself off and say four days is better than 7, and the next week will be better! It will, but I have a big weekend this weekend too of course.. it's all good though. Some of it I can control in advance, and some of it I won't be able to, but as long as I control the controllable, then I'll be happy.

Night Angelpuffs!

Friday, May 4, 2012

I had my first author event today (albeit, an off-site one) so with all that excitement, there was no time for breakfast or thinking or anything else! Must admit, going back to my cold office was a little anti-climactic, but at least I got to leave early.. and that was the excitement for my day. Other than that, I studied, and I've been trying to plan my 30th birthday - probably so that I don't think about the fact that all my home friends are currently together in aussie-land celebrating one of our best friends thirtieths and I really really wish I could be there. I'm pretty sure they should have invented instant teleportation by now, and yet I'm supposed to be excited by the fact that I can use my phone as a stereo remote. Fail, 21st century.
(I lie.. I actually think it's really cool that my phone can be a stereo remote..but I still want instant teleportation!!)

Breakfast: None

Lunch:
Noodles & Company The Veggie Med = 8 Points

Snack:
1.5 Wasa, cheddar, & tomato = 5 Points

 Dinner:
Mr. Goodcents (which has apparently changed their name..) Turkey on wheat, w/ pepperjack, jalapenos, lettuce, onion, black olives & green capsicum = 7 Points

Yay Mr. Goodcents - also, Jason's Deli is somehow even worse than Panera when it comes to high calorie sandwiches. Even their light menu is ridiculous and their normal menu.. put it this way, ONE muffaletta is like 3000 calories and over 200 grams of fat. 1/2 is something ludicrous like 1600 calories and 100 grams of fat. Do you know how nuts that is??? It's a flipping sandwich! Never trust anywhere on food. Ever.
 Bits & Pieces:
Milk for coffee: 3 Points
Bear Naked Banana Nut Granola: 4 Points

This is the best granola I have ever had in my life - it's a bit high in points and stuff though, so if you diet, check the NI before consuming!

 Daily Summary:
 Daily Points Used: 26/26 + 1 weekly = 27 Points total
Weekly Points Used: 1/ 41
Weekly Points Remaining: 40/49
Exercise 0 days / 3 days
Sanity Level 2/5

I'll leave you with a picture of the cutest critter in existence.

Apparently Disney modeled all of their huge-eyed woodland creatures (and princesses) on this little guy.
